CRU control software controls the functions of the radio. The CRU control software is located on the right below the cab roof.
The CRU control software receives signals from the following components:
– Audio Interface (USB / 3.5 mm Stereo Jack)
– XM Satellite Radio, Microphone
– Radio Antenna
– Antenna for XM Satellite Radio
These incoming signals are processed by the CRU control software and transmitted to the following components:
– Left Rear Speaker
– Right Rear Speaker
– Left Front Speaker
– Right Front Speaker
John Deere CRU fault codes / John Deere CRU diagnostic trouble codes
NOTE:This page only indicates the meaning of the fault codes. For complete troubleshooting information, see the technical manuals.
CRU 000168.03 — Control Software, Supply Voltage (BAT) Too High
Radio unit (CRU) unswitched supply voltage more than 18 V.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 000168.04 — Control Software, Supply Voltage (BAT) Too Low
The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control software registers a supply voltage (BAT) of less than 7 V.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 000237.02 — VIN Information, Mismatch
Radio received an incorrect VIN. Verify radio is on the vehicle that matches the VIN at CRU 251. The radio faceplate will display “BLOCKED” and no audio will be heard. Once the correct VIN is received, the fault will correct itself and radio will resume normal operation.
Attention: If any DTCs are stored indicating CAN messages are missing, diagnose those codes first.
Control software response: Limited function of vehicle.
CRU 000639.14 — Vehicle CAN Bus (500 kBd), Very High Error Rate
Too many incorrect CAN Bus messages received. This indicates a general problem at the connection to the Vehicle CAN Bus (500 kBd).
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 002850.03 — Radio Antenna, Voltage Too High
Circuit open or shorted to 12 volts.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 002850.05 — Radio Antenna, Current Too Low
Circuit current too low. This indicates an open circuit.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 002850.06 — Radio Antenna, Current Too High
Circuit current too high. This indicates a short to ground.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 520194.02 — VIN Information, Mismatch
The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the CRU control software is not received by other control units / control softwares. This indicates a problem in the vehicle CAN Bus (500 kBd).
NOTE: Code could be caused by the operator cycling the key to fast. Once radio receives VIN from ECU, key must be cycled for radio to update and clear code.
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 520772.12 — Radio MP3 Fault
The diagnstic trouble code is generated if communication between the CD drive and the MP3 management chip is interrupted.
NOTE: Insure CD or USB drive contains MP3 music files. Radio will not display code if correct media is not inserted/connected. This is an internal fault code. If code is persistent, more than 10 times, and ALL OTHER RADIO FUNCTIONS WORK CORRECTLY radio will need replaced.
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 521156.12 — XM Satellite Radio, Fault
Communication error from XM Satellite Radio Module. Inspect module antenna. Verify country code is set to US at address VTI 045
NOTE: Insure radio has (((XM))) on the faceplate. If (((XM))) is not on faceplate, radio does not support XM.
Reaction of the control software: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 521780.06 — USB Connection, Current Too High
The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control software detects that the current at the USB connection is too high. This indicates that there is a shorted circuit at the USB connection or at the connected USB data carrier.
NOTE: Ensure non-flash drive device, such as smart phone, tablet, MP3 player, is at least 50% charged when connecting to USB port. Device may pull more current than port is rated at (500mA).
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 522453.12 — Control Software, Internal Fault
Internal radio fault. Change source button on radio to another source and then back to Bluetooth source. If Bluetooth does not work, replace radio.
NOTE: Verify that a Bluetooth device is connected to radio. Radio will not perform any Bluetooth functions without a device paired to radio.
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 524259.00 — CD Drive, Temperature Too High
Radio unit (CRU) detects that its own circuit board temperature is above 115 °C (239 °F), for longer than 2 seconds. Turn off radio and allow to cool.
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
CRU 524259.31 — Radio, Temperature Too High
Radio unit (CRU) detects over-temperature of amplifier for longer than 2 seconds and shutdown radio. Turn off radio and allow to cool.
Control software response: Limited or no function of the control software.
