PTI FAULT CODES / PTI ERROR CODES

The power train AutoPowr™ / IVT™ Control Unit (PTI) is contained in the vehicle controller with the Chassis Control Unit (CCU) and the Vehicle Load Center (VLC) control unit.
PTI monitors direct inputs from sensors & switches (Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sensor, Fuel Level Sensor, Hydraulic Oil Filter Restriction Sensor, Park Brake Pressure Sensor, Clutch Enable Pressure Sensor, Diagnostic Hydraulic Pressure Connector, Air Brake Pressure Sensor, Carrier Speed Sensor, MFWD/ILS™ Speed Sensor, Hydro Ring Gear Speed Sensor, CU Idler Speed Sensor, primary transmission speed sensor, secondary transmission speed sensor and Secondary Fuel Level Sensor (Tracks Only)) and indirect inputs from other control units (via Controller Area Network [CAN] Bus messages), then executes the appropriate direction and speed functions via transmission components (clutch enable solenoid, hydro control unit (CU) solenoid, high clutch solenoid, low clutch solenoid, reverse brake solenoid, loop flush cutoff solenoid, ring unit (RU) hydro control solenoid, clutch 1 (C1) solenoid, clutch 2 (C2) solenoid, clutch 3 (C3) solenoid, park brake supply solenoid, park sump block solenoid, and air trailer brake solenoid).

John Deere PTI fault codes / John Deere PTI diagnostic trouble codes

PTI 000127.01 (PTI 127.01)— Transmission Enable Pressure Very Low
Code caused by: Transmission activation pressure is less than 1000 kPa (10 bar) (145 psi) when the engine is running and the oil temperature is above 20 °C (68 °F). The code often indicates an oil value pickup problem.
NOTE: If PTI 000754.18, PTI 000755.18, or PTI 000756.18 codes are generated, troubleshoot these codes first.

PTI 000158.01 (PTI 158.01)— PTI Switched Supply Voltage Low
Code caused by: ELX voltage is less than 10V with engine running.

PTI 000168.01 (PTI 168.01)— PTI Unswitched Supply Voltage Low
Code caused by: PTI battery supply voltage less than 8V.

PTI 000177.17 (PTI 177.17)— Transmission Oil Temperature Low/Calibration Inhibited
Code Caused By: Transmission oil temperature is too low to calibrate the transmission. The code is purely informative and does not indicate a failure. The temperature is below 10 °C (14 °F).

PTI 000190.00 (PTI 190.00)— Engine Overspeed
Code Caused By: Engine speed greater than 2700 rpm for one second. The fault remains active until the engine speed is below 2600 rpm. This code is informational and does not necessarily indicate a fault.

PTI 000190.02 (PTI 190.02)— Speed Mismatch – ECU Message with PTI Calculation
Code Caused By: The engine speed CAN parameter does not agree with the expected engine speed, which is calculated by measuring the crown speed and planetary carrier of the transmission hydrostatic unit.
NOTE: If ECU DTCs are present, perform your diagnosis before proceeding with diagnosis of the current code.

PTI 000191.00 (PTI 191.00)— Transmission Overspeed
Code Caused By: Transmission output speed greater than 8500 rpm for three seconds. The fault remains active until the output speed is below 8300 rpm.

PTI 000191.02 (PTI 191.02)— Transmission Output Speed Mismatch
Code caused by: Clutch differential speed is greater than 200rpm, indicating clutch slippage.
NOTE: If DTC codes PTI 000754.18, PTI 000755.18, PTI 000756.18 are present, process these codes before proceeding with actual diagnosis.

PTI 000619.05 (PTI 619.05)— Park Brake Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: Fault detected in the parking brake solenoid valve circuit.

PTI 000628.02 (PTI 628.02)—PTI EOL Data Fault
Code caused by: PTI control unit memory failure.

PTI 000628.12 (PTI 628.12)— PTI Programming
Code caused by: control unit in the process of software update.

PTI 000629.12 (PTI 629.12)— PTI Control Unit Fault
Code Caused By: The Power Train Control Unit (PTI) software did not run within the specified time.

PTI 000630.13 (PTI 630.13)— PTI Hydro Calibration Fault
Code caused by: PTI running an autocalibration on the hydrostatic unit. The code may be a consequence of the generation of the codes PTI 524233.15, PTI 524233.16, PTI 524241.11, PTI 523911.13 or PTI 523912.13. This code can also occur from clearing the PTI 29 steering calibrations or if the tractor has a new or reprogrammed control unit.
NOTE: If PTI 524233.15 or PTI 524233.16 codes are present, troubleshoot these codes first.

PTI 000630.14 (PTI 630.14)— PTI Clutch Calibration Fault
Code Caused By: PTI running an auto-calibration on the clutch enable valve. This code can also occur from clearing the PTI 29 steering calibrations or if the tractor has a new or reprogrammed control unit. If PTI code 000630.13 is present, diagnose this code first.

PTI 000734.05 (PTI 734.05)— Low Clutch Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in the low clutch (LC) solenoid valve circuit.

PTI 000735.05 (PTI 735.05)— High Clutch Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in the high clutch (HC) solenoid valve circuit.

PTI 000736.05 (PTI 736.05)— Reverse Brake Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code Caused By: Reverse Brake (RB) Solenoid Valve Circuit Detected Fault.

PTI 000737.05 (PTI 737.05)— Clutch 1 (C1) Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in clutch solenoid valve 1 (C1) circuit.

PTI 000738.05 (PTI 738.05)— Clutch 2 (C2) Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in clutch solenoid valve 2 (C2) circuit.

PTI 000739.05 (PTI 739.05)—Clutch 3 (C3) Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in clutch solenoid valve 3 (C3) circuit.

PTI 000754.18 (PTI 754.18)— Clutch Enable Pressure Low/LC Engaged
Code Caused By: Clutch enable pressure (system 2) stays low for more than three seconds while the low clutch is engaged. Parking brake pressure is not low.

PTI 000755.18 (PTI 755.18)— Clutch Enable Pressure Low/HC Engaged
Code Caused By: Clutch enable pressure (system 2) stays low for more than three seconds while the high clutch is engaged. Parking brake pressure is not low.

PTI 000756.18 (PTI 756.18)— Clutch Enable Pressure Low/RB Engaged
Code Caused By: Clutch activation pressure (system 2) stays low for more than three seconds while the kickback brake is applied. Parking brake pressure is not low.

PTI 001079.04 (PTI 1079.04)— PTI Sensor Supply Voltage Low
Code caused by: PTI 5V sensor supply voltage is less than 4.0V.

PTI 002000.09 (PTI 2000.09)— ECU Message Missing
Code Caused By: No CAN messages are received from the ECU.
NOTE: PTI is not the cause, check CAN wires to ECU.

PTI 002005.09 (PTI 2005.09)— ACU Message Missing
Code Caused By: No CAN messages are received from the ACU.

PTI 523911.05 — Hydro Ring Unit (RU) Control Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in the ring unit (RU) circuit.

PTI 523911.13 —Hydro Ring Unit (RU) Calibration Fault
Code Caused By: Annular hydrostatic unit calibration is outside of valid operating range. This fault automatically generates the PTI code 000630.13.

PTI 523912.05 — Hydro Clutch Unit (CU) Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in the clutch unit circuit.

PTI 523912.13 — Hydro Clutch Unit (CU) Calibration Fault
Code Caused By: Clutch hydrostatic calibration is outside of valid operating range. This fault automatically generates the PTI code 000630.13.

PTI 523913.05 — Loop Flush Cut-Off Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code Caused By: Detected fault in the buttonhole flush cutout circuit.

PTI 523917.07 — Synchronizer Speed Mismatch
Code Caused By: A differential speed is detected between the clutch elements, indicating a transmission malfunction.

PTI 523917.08 — Synchronizer Engagement Fault
Code caused by: failure to connect the synchronizer to the C1 clutch. Restart the engine to attempt vehicle recovery.
NOTE: This code can also be generated if the engine stalls.

PTI 523917.17 — CU Idler Speed Low at Start-Up
Code Caused By: Clutch Tensioner Low Speed During Cranking.
NOTE: If PTI 524233.17 has been saved, the motor input shaft is not running.

PTI 524226.08 — Direction Sensing Incorrect
Code Caused By: The measured address does not match the expected address.

PTI 524228.05 — Park Sump Block Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code Caused By: Fault detected in the parking sump lockout circuit.

PTI 524228.11 — Park Sump Block Valve Fault
Code caused by: the code indicates a bad operation in the parking sump lock system.

PTI 524230.03 — Unexpected Enable Pressure
Code Caused By: Clutch Activation Pressure Sensor or Clutch Activation Solenoid Valve Malfunction.

PTI 524230.05 — Clutch Enable Solenoid Circuit Fault
Code caused by: fault detected in the clutch activation circuit.

PTI 524232.01 — Park Brake Pressure Low/Gear Commanded
Code Caused By: Parking brake pressure is less than 1500 kPa (15 bar) (218 psi) for more than one second while the parking brake is not applied.

PTI 524232.02 — Park Brake Pressure Sensor Fault
Code Caused By: The parking brake pressure sensor indicates an invalid value compared to the other internal pressure sensors for more than 15 seconds.

PTI 524232.04 — Park Brake Pressure Sensor Circuit Voltage Low
Code caused by: open circuit or short to ground in the parking brake pressure sensor.
NOTE: If this code is present, the PTI control unit assumes a pressure of 2100 kPa (21 bar) (305 psi) when the parking brake is released. Parking brake pressure can be seen at address PTI 023.

PTI 524232.14 — Park Brake Pressure Low in Come Home Mode
Code caused by: Parking brake pressure less than 750 kPa (7.5 bar) (108 psi) in limp mode with engine off or vehicle towed. This code is generated in limp mode to alert the operator that the parking brake pressure has decreased to the level where the parking brake could be activated.
NOTE: This code can be operator induced. Review correct operating procedures.

PTI 524232.16 — Park Brake Pressure High/Park Commanded
Code Caused By: The parking brake system maintains a pressure of more than 50 kPa (0.5 bar) (7 psi), which can cause the parking brake to only partially engage.

PTI 524232.17 — Park Brake Pressure Low/Park Not Commanded
Code Caused By: Parking brake pressure does not exceed the 1500 kPa (15 bar) (218 psi) threshold required to release the parking brake.

PTI 524232.18 — Park Brake Pressure Low
Code Caused By: Park and activation pressures stay low for more than three seconds, indicating a hydraulic leak in system 1.

PTI 524233.00 — Hydro Ring Unit (RU) Overspeed
Code Caused By: The hydrostatic unit corona speed has exceeded the overspeed limit. The PTI control unit upshifts the transmission to get out of the overspeed condition. This can occur when driving the tractor at a high engine speed, such as when pushing a load downhill.

PTI 524233.02 — Ring Unit (RU) Speed Incorrect
Code Caused By: Hydrostatic unit corona speed does not match expected speed. Crown speed is compared to engine speed, planetary carrier speed and output speed.

PTI 524233.07 — Hydro Speed Incorrect/PowerZero
Code caused by: the hydrostatic control system does not present the expected speed when active stop (power zero) is ordered.

PTI 524233.15 —Hydro Speed Incorrect/Park Engaged
Code Caused By: The hydrostatic control system is not presenting the expected speed to release the brake.
NOTE: This code automatically generates the PTI code 000630.13. The speed signals may be correct, but the system may not respond to commands due to possible mechanical or hydraulic control problems. If diagnostic codes 524247.17, 524233.17, or 000127.01 are present, first resolve these codes before proceeding with the ongoing diagnostics.

PTI 524233.16 — Hydro Speed Incorrect/Park Not Engaged
Code Caused By: The hydrostatic control system is not presenting the expected speed to release the brake.
NOTE: This code automatically generates the PTI fault code 000630.13. The speed signals may be correct, but the system may not respond to commands due to possible mechanical or hydraulic control problems. If diagnostic codes 524247.17, 524233.17, or 000127.01 are present, first resolve these codes before proceeding with the ongoing diagnostics.

PTI 524233.17 — Hydro Ring Unit (RU) Speed Low At Start-Up
Code caused by: Incorrect hydrostatic unit corona speed during start-up. The current crown speed signal from the hydrostatic unit may be correct but the system may not respond to commands due to mechanical or hydraulic control problems.
NOTE: This code automatically generates the PTI fault code 000630.13. The speed signals may be correct, but the system may not respond to commands due to possible mechanical or hydraulic control problems. If the DTC PTI diagnostic code 000127.01 is present, resolve this code before proceeding with the current diagnosis.

PTI 524234.02 — Clutch Enable Pressure Incorrect
Code Caused By: The Clutch Activation Pressure Sensor indicates an invalid value compared to the other pressure sensors on the vehicle for more than 15 seconds.

PTI 524234.04 — Clutch Enable Pressure Sensor Circuit Voltage Low
Code caused by: the clutch activation pressure sensor is open circuit or shorted to ground.
NOTE: If this code is present, the PTI control unit assumes a pressure of 2000 kPa (20 bar) (290 psi) when the transmission is in gear. Clutch activation pressure can be seen at address PTI 024.

PTI 524237.31 — Reverser Park and Neutral Switches On
Code caused by: Invalid value of inverter switch.
NOTE: The PTI does not read the switches directly. The switch values are transmitted by the CLC or ACU control unit depending on the vehicle option.

PTI 524238.31 —Reverser, Park and Neutral Signals Off
Code caused by: Invalid value of inverter switch.
NOTE: The PTI does not read the switches directly. The switch values are transmitted by the CLC or ACU control unit depending on the vehicle option.

PTI 524239.31 —No Motion/Engine Running
Code Caused By: No tractor speed detected after the speed control lever was placed in gear and a wheel speed commanded greater than 1 km/h (0.62 mph).
NOTE: If DTC codes PTI 000754.18, PTI 000755.18, PTI 000756.18 are present, process these codes before proceeding with actual diagnosis.

PTI 524240.14 — No Motion/Come Home Mode
Code Caused By: Tractor speed was not detected in limp mode after the speed control lever was put into gear and the clutch has been engaged and disengaged.

PTI 524241.02 — Carrier Speed or Hydro Ring Gear Speed Incorrect
Code Caused By: Speed signs do not match the calculated speed. The speeds of the ring gear and the planetary carrier are compared with each other.
NOTE: If DTCs PTI 524233.02, PTI 524247.02, PTI 000754.18, PTI 000755.18, or PTI 000756.18 are present, perform diagnosis on these codes before proceeding with actual diagnosis.

PTI 524241.11 — Synchronizer Engagement Fault/Clutch Control
Code Caused By: The C1 clutch does not engage due to excessive planetary carrier speed, indicating a possible clutch actuation pressure control problem. This fault can automatically generate PTI 000630.13 and PTI 000630.14 codes.
NOTE: If DTCs PTI 524233.02, PTI 524247.02, PTI 000754.18, PTI 000755.18, or PTI 000756.18 are present, perform diagnosis on these codes before proceeding with actual diagnosis.

PTI 524242.00 — Transmission Pressures High
high Code caused by: stuck pressure control, lubrication discharge or cooler relief valve.

PTI 524243.31 — PTI Park/ACU Gear Command Conflict
Code Caused By: Park switch value does not match ACU command.
NOTE: CLC transmits the park switch value.

PTI 524244.31 — PTI Park/ACU Neutral Command Conflict
Code caused by: Park or neutral switch value does not match the ACU command.
NOTE: CLC transmits the neutral switch value.

PTI 524245.31 — PTI Neutral/ACU Gear Command ConflictACU gear
Code Caused By: Receiving gear command from ACU reading neutral switch on PTI.

PTI 524247.02 — Carrier Speed Incorrect
Code Caused By: Planetary carrier speed does not match expected speed. Planetary carrier speed is compared to engine speed, crown speed and output speed.

PTI 524247.17 — Carrier Speed Low at Start-Up
Code caused by: Incorrect planetary carrier speed during cranking. The planetary carrier speed signals may be correct, but the system may not respond to commands due to possible mechanical or hydraulic control problems.
NOTE: This code is generated only when starting the engine. This code cannot be generated during tractor operation.

PTI 524248.31 — Vehicle moves with parking brake applied
Code Caused By: A wheel speed greater than 3 km/h (1.86 mph) was detected while applying the parking brake. This fault generates the PTI code 524250.31.

PTI 524249.31 — Operator Not Seated With Transmission In Neutral
Code Caused By: Operator presence (seat switch, clutch pedal, or brake active) is not detected when the tractor is in neutral.
NOTE: This code does not indicate a system fault.

PTI 524250.31 — Park Brake Previously Failed/May Not Hold
Code Caused By: Parking brake may not hold. The tractor is parked and the PTI code 524248.31 was previously active.

PTI 524253.02 — ACU Not Commanding Park At Power Up
Code Caused By: The ACU does not send the desired “parking brake applied” status during cranking.

PTI 524254.03 — Transmission Enable Circuit Voltage High
Code caused by: internal fault of the PTI control unit.

PTI 524254.04 — Transmission Enable Circuit Voltage Low
Code Caused By: The PTI control unit detects that the drive circuit output is low when commanded to drive.
NOTE: The problem is most likely due to a fault in the ACU (663) circuit.
